Designed to give you more control over your research projects, eRSA’s new Portal is almost here.

Ahead of the new eRSA Portal launch in the coming weeks, a number of new features are set to enhance users’ level of control over their eRSA services, such as HPC, Cloud and storage.

The Portal is the online gateway where all eRSA account holders can access information about the services and products they are using. Over the past 12 months, the eRSA Solutions team has been hard at work building the Portal to enhance user features and improve the user interface with a clean visual design.

On launch, the new Portal will be a significant upgrade from the previous infrastructure, especially because of its vastly improved user interface. Designed to enhance and streamline the overall user experience of accessing eRSA services, the new Portal will offer a higher level of functionality for eRSA users following a series of scheduled updates post-launch.

Geordie Golding, eRSA Solutions Manager, explains the primary purpose of the Portal is to provide access to what users need, from one single platform.

“The new Portal is a customer access point to source individual details of their projects and additional support content,” Geordie said

“The Portal identifies current services being utilised (such as TANGO Cloud storage), allows for more flexible project and individual user management, and presents an easy user interface to access eRSA products and services.”

Following the launch of the new Portal, eRSA services will be made more easily accessible, including an upcoming update to support TANGO HPC and Cloud connectivity. This equips users with a higher level of data management, allowing them to focus on the project work that matters most.

Geordie says many of the regular admin tasks will be streamlined, including password resets, adding/removing users to project groups, and updating user details. In addition to this, the new Portal will continue to receive quality-of-life updates following its launch.

“A lot of the first version functionality will be read-only, but we’re developing it to be more interactive and add additional write capabilities,” Geordie said.

“Subsequent versions are in the pipeline, which will allow for further project group functionality, service provisioning, and user customisation.”

Once these updates go live, eRSA users will have significant self-service capabilities, including the ability to request further TANGO allocations without needing to send a request email, and a greater capacity to add, edit and remove user details within a project team.

Until these functions are added, we have streamlined the process of emailing our friendly Service Desk team when requesting service or project changes. Clicking on the corresponding prompts will automatically open a pre-populated email where all you need to do is fill in the blanks.

The main function of the new Portal is to be a point of access for eRSA users, instead of having multiple entry points for different types of services. Once launched, the new Portal will replace the preexisting login link on the top-right section of the eRSA website.

Signing up for an eRSA account will continue to be handled by our Service Desk team. Please contact the Service Desk to discuss creating an account with us. Preexisting users will not need to take any action to access the new Portal – simply log in with the same credentials as before via the Portal link in the top-right hand corner of the eRSA website, or by clicking this link.

There’s way too much information out there for an individual or group of people to comprehend, so we have created automated tools to allow our users to extract the data they need...access to the latest technology allow[s] us to continue to provide the best platforms to our end-users.”
