Haptics facilities

eResearch SA has two haptics facilities, the haptics workbench and a portable device.

Please reserve the facilities using the Facilities Booking Form. Charges apply for some haptics facility uses.

Haptics workbench

Based on a SensAble Phantom Premium 1.5/6DOF device, the haptics workbench holds the host PC, display monitor and mirror, haptics device and control monitor. The desk is arranged so that the physical placement of the stylus corresponds to the user's impression of its location in virtual space.

The haptics workbench currently is located at Flinders Medical Devices and Technologies at Flinders University. Bookings can be made via the bookings form and a mutually agreeable time will be negotiated.

Portable device

Based on a SensAble Phantom Omni device, the portable haptics device is a small, light and portable desktop unit, and can be connected to any suitable PC.
